Peter是銷售部經理，平時須管理一群業務悍將，老闆問他會不會管不動部屬？「Everyone is under my thumb」Peter用短短一句話展現領導霸氣。身為主管的你，若要表達自己掌控團隊的強勢作風，

以下三個片語都很適用：

1.Under sb's thumb 在支配下

說明：thumb是「大姆指」，在某人的大姆指下，其實就是「受到某人的支配、聽從某人的指揮」。

例：Don't worry about my people. All of them are under my thumb and will do whatever I tell them.
別擔心我的人，他們全都在我的支配下，聽從我的指揮。

Thumb也可以當動詞，意思是「用拇指翻動」，例如：
These books were badly thumbed.
這些書都給翻爛了。

加上down，thumb down，意思是「否定、排斥」，可以想見就是把大姆指往下指：
He tends to thumb down all my best ideas.
他總是把我最好的主意都全部否定掉。

2.In sb's pocket 在掌控中

說明：pocket是「口袋」，如果能把一個人裝進自己的口袋裡，相當於「制伏、掌控」了此人。

例：The contractors are in my pocket; there won't be any problems.
承包商都在我的掌控之中，不會出問題。

Pocket也有動詞用法，指「侵佔公款」：
He was jailed for pocketing public funds.
他因侵吞公款進了牢房。

或者當「忍受」：
I can no longer pocket her insults.
我再也無法忍受她的侮辱了。

3.Breathe down sb's neck 緊迫盯人

說明：在某人的脖子後面呼吸，可以指在對方身邊「緊盯動作」，或者在他處「密切的追蹤狀況」。

例：This can't be messed up. Therefore, I am breathing down his neck.
不能搞砸這件事，因此我正緊盯著他。

Neck除了脖子，也可以引申為「厚臉皮」：
That fellow's got neck enough for anything.
那傢伙厚顏無恥，什麼都幹得出來。

片語get it in the neck意思是「受到嚴厲的懲罰」：
He got it in the neck for being late.
他因為遲到被狠罵了一頓。
