no standing裡，stand的意思與其說是站，更接近「停靠」。stand當「停靠」的用法，來看例句：
The train now standing at platform 8 is the 15:17 for Cardiff.
（現在停靠在8號月台的是15點17分開往Cardiff的火車。）
no standing是「禁止把車停靠於此」，這和no parking有何不同呢？
在美國，禁止停車按嚴格程度可分3種：
- No parking.
- No standing.
- No stopping.
「No parking!」大家應該很熟，意思是「不可停車」。這個標示表示，雖然不能停車，但臨停一下還是允許的。像是司機還在車上、臨停在路邊，必要時，司機還可以隨時移動車子。
「No standing!」就稍嚴格一點了，就算司機還在車上，也不能臨停，只可很短暫的讓人上下車、馬上就得開走。
「No stopping!」最嚴格，是無論如何都不能停。
在交通很擁擠的大城市，這3種標示都算常見。

stand當動詞，有「招待、請客」的意思， stand someone a drink是口語表達「請某人喝一杯酒」或「付酒錢」，用來表示善意或者熱情款待。
I left my wallet at home, so could you stand me my lunch?
（我錢包放在家裡，午餐你能請我嗎？）
I really appreciated your help today. How about I stand you dinner after work?
（今天很感謝你幫忙，下班後可以請你吃頓晚餐嗎？）
Don’t worry. I can stand the heat.

stand在這裡的意思為「忍受」，stand the heat是指「吃苦耐勞、經得起考驗」，這個用法來自於一句成語，「怕熱就不要進廚房」：If you can't stand the heat, stay out of the kitchen.。
stand the heat常用於強調一個人的冷靜、耐心和應變能力，特別是在壓力高的情境下。例如：
She really knows how to stand the heat in the fast-paced world of finance.
（她真的知道如何在快節奏的金融世界中，受得住壓力。）
The CEO's ability to stand the heat and make tough decisions played a crucial role in turning the company around.
